QUESTION

I need to create elevation views that show just wall framing.  How can I do this?

ANSWER

This article will walk you through creating a wall elevation of just your wall framing to be used in your layout.

For this example we will just be using a small 20 x 20 ft square house.

To build wall framing

  1. Click Build> Framing> Build Framing .

  2. On the Wall panel, check Build Wall Framing or Automatically Build Wall Framing and then click OK.

  3. Select the 3D> Create Orthographic View and create a Cross Section/Elevation camera and point it at the wall you need.

  4. Click on Tools> Display Options and place a checkmark in the Disp column of the Framing, Wall layer.

  5. Using the Delete Surfaces tool, click on the surfaces you want to hide.

Using this technique you can hide different layers and create a customized Wall elevation.

To use an alternate method

  1. Create a Cross Section/Elevation camera and point it at the wall you need.

  2. Click on Tools> Display Options .

  3. Click Select All then uncheck Display.

  4. Turn on the layer, Framing, Walls and click OK.
