QUESTION

How can I apply a cable, glass, or decorative panel from the Library Browser to my railings and stairs?

Cable railings applied to a hallway and staircase

ANSWER

Cable, glass, and other decorative panels can be applied to railings using the Railing Specification dialog and the Staircase Specification dialog.

To specify panels in the Railing Specification dialog

  1. Use the Select Objects  tool to select the railing, and then click on the Open Object  edit tool to display the Railing Specification dialog.

If the majority of railings in your plan are going to be cable or panel railings, it would be more efficient to apply the steps mentioned in this section to your Railing Defaults. From the menu, click Edit> Default Settings and expand the list for Walls to edit the Railing defaults.

  2. Go to the Rail Style panel and select the Panels radio button.
