Making Stairs Transparent in Floor Plan

QUESTION

I am creating a small room below my stairs. It will have a number of fixtures and furnishings in it, and I would like to be able to see these in plan view through the stairs.



How can I make the stairs transparent so that I can see the items that will be located below them in floor plan view?


ANSWER

To make objects placed below stairs visible in floor plan view, change the line style of stairs in floor plan view.


To make objects below stairs visible in Floor Plan view

  1. Use the Select Objects tool to select the stairs and click on the Open Object edit tool to display the Staircase Specification dialog.


  2. On the Fill Style panel, use the drop-down menu to change the Fill Pattern to None.




  3. Click OK to apply the change.


To change the line style of the stairs in Floor Plan view

  1. Use the Select Objects tool to select the staircase, press Open Object to open the Staircase Specification dialog.


  2. On the Line Style panel, click the drop down arrow and select a dashed line style.




  3. Click the OK button to close the dialog and apply your changes.
