I would like to know how to create a room with a ceiling that follows the pitch of the roof. How do I do that?

A ceiling that follows the underside of the roof is sometimes referred to as a cathedral ceiling and is easy to create.

To create a cathedral ceiling

  1. Launch Home Designer and chose to Open the plan in which you would like to create a cathedral ceiling.

  2. Click the Select Objects tool, then click inside of a room you want to have cathedral or vaulted ceiling and click the Open Object edit button.

  3. On the Structure panel of the Room Specification dialog, uncheck Ceiling Over This Room,

  4. Click OK to close the dialog and apply your change.

  5. Next, select 3D> Create Camera View> Full Camera and click and drag out a 3D camera view of you design to see that the view of that room will now show the underside of the roof, rather than a flat ceiling.

Note: In Home Designer Pro, you can create a vaulted ceiling using custom ceiling planes that do not match the pitch or shape of the roof above.
