QUESTION

Sometimes it is difficult to place objects such as walls exactly where I want them. As the object is moved, it seems to "jump" past the dimension that I would like. I need a procedure that will allow me to accurately place objects where I need them.

ANSWER

  • To temporarily turn off snap settings for unrestricted movement of most objects, you can hold down the Ctrl or Command key on the keyboard.

  • Depending on your mouse settings and the distance you are zoomed out in your plan view, your mouse may move too quickly to place an object accurately within a drawing. One solution is to Zoom In on the object you would like to move to a particular location.

  • In some situations, you may want to tile your views so that you can move an object in the 2-Dimensional floor plan view and see the resulting change in a 3-Dimensional camera view.

  • Many types of objects can be moved precisely using dimensions. To learn more, see the Related Articles section below.
