QUESTION

I would like to add a 110V GFCI to my bedroom, yet when I attempt this using the electrical outlet tool, Home Designer seems to override my selection and add a standard 110V outlet. How can I add a 110V GFCI outlet to my bedroom?

ANSWER

Due to code requirements in the United States, Home Designer will add a 110V GFCI to a bathroom automatically.

However, it will not add a 110V GFCI to other rooms using the 110v electrical tool without a change to the electrical defaults. Instead, simply place the object directly from your Library Browser.

To place a 110V GFCI directly from your library

  1. Select View> Library Browser , and navigate to Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing> Electrical> Outlets> Wall Mounted> 110V and select GFCI.

  2. Select the outlet in the Library Browser, then click to place it in your plan at the location you want the outlet to display.
