How can I create a transom window over a door, or make stacked windows in Home Designer?
Placing a transom window over a door, or creating a stacked window arrangement is easy in Home Designer by placing, moving and resizing the windows using their edit handles in a Camera view.
To make transom windows
First, launch your Home Designer software and Open the plan in which you would like to place a transom window over your door.
Select 3D> Create Camera View> Elevation , click in the floor plan view and drag in the direction of the door.
Note: The Elevation camera is only available in select versions. If your version does not have an Elevation or Cross Section camera, then select and use the normal Camera tool.
If you have already placed a Window in the plan, simply select it and use its move edit handle to move it in to place and use its resize edit handles to change its Width and Height appropriately over the door. Once the casings touch, the window and door will display as mulled together.
If you have not yet placed the window, select Build> Window> Window , click in the camera view above the doorway to place the window, and then use the edit handles, or Window Specification dialog, to resize the window.
You can also place a window by selecting View> Library Browser (Library> Library Browser in Home Designer 2014 and prior versions) and searching the Windows folder for an appropriate window to place. Once selected, you can click in the view to place the window.
Keep in mind that some manufacturer windows may not have the ability to be resized.
With the window selected, click on the Open Object edit tool to open the Window Specification dialog and navigate to the General panel to change the Window Type to your preference.
The material applied to the Glass can be changed on the Materials panel of the Window Specification dialog.
You may want to look over the options in the Sash, Frame, Casing and Lites panels if you need to change any of these additional features of the window to create an accurate model.
If you are unclear on what a particular setting on each panel does, select the Help button which is located in the dialog to learn more.
Click OK when you have completed making changes to apply them and close the Window Specification dialog.
Move the window into place and if necessary, hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard to allow for unrestricted movement.
This information can also be located within your software under the Help menu.
