QUESTION

Why don't I see any railings in 3D Framing Overviews?

ANSWER

Framing Overviews are 3D views that display only the roof, floor, ceiling, and wall framing in a model.  By default railings, such as those used for stairwells, porches or decks, do not display in the Framing Overview.

To display railings in a Framing Overview

  1. Select 3D> Create Camera View> Framing Overview from the program menu.

In Home Designer Pro select 3D> Create Perspective View> Perspective Framing Overview

  2. With a 3D Framing Overview open, select Tools> Display Options from the menu.

  3. In the Display Options dialog:

    • Scroll down the list and locate the Walls, Railings layer and click in the Disp column to place a checkmark.

    • Click OK to apply this change to display stairs and landings in the Framing Overviews is this plan.
