On certain portions of my drawing the wall siding appears on the inside and drywall appears on the outside of the building. How do I reverse the wall so that the siding appears on the outside?

When drawing walls with Home Designer software it is important to draw walls in a clockwise direction. If created in a counter-clockwise direction the walls will appear with siding on the inside, and drywall on the outside.

Note:  Home Designer 2012 and newer programs will automatically correct this condition if you accidentally drew the walls incorrectly, however, in earlier versions of the software you would need to manually correct the condition, which will will discuss in this article.

Home Designer creates walls in layers. The outside layer is siding, the inside layer is drywall. To orient the layers correctly, the Home Designer program requires that you create walls in a clockwise manner. If, however, certain walls appear incorrectly on your drawing you can reverse them quickly and easily.

In Home Designer version 8.0 and newer software, you can also quickly fix this in either a 2D floor plan view, or in a 3D camera view.

To reverse the layers of the wall

  1. Use the Select Objects  tool to select the wall.

  2. Click on the Reverse Layers  edit button.
