Placing a transom window over a door, or creating a stacked window arrangement is easy in Home Designer by placing and moving and resizing the windows using their edit handles in a 3D Camera  view.

To make transom windows

1. First, launch your Home Designer software and Open  the plan in which you would like to place a transom window over your door.
   
   
   
2. Select 3D> Create Camera View> Cross Section/Elevation  and click in floor plan view and drag in the direction of the door.*
   
   *Cross Section/Elevation camera view not available in all programs, instead, select the normal Full Camera  and click and drag towards the door to create a 3D camera view of that area.  
   
   
   
   
   
3. If you have already placed a Window  in the plan, simply select it and use its Move edit handle to move it in to place and use its Resize edit handles to change its Width and Height appropriately over the door.
   
   Once the casings touch, the window and door will display as mulled together.
   
   
   
4. If you have not yet placed the Window, select Build> Window> Window , click in the camera view above the doorway to place the window, and then use the edit handles, or Window Specification dialog, to resize the window.
   
   You can also place a window by selecting Library> Library Browser  and searching the Windows folder for an appropriate window to place.  Once selected, you can click in the view to place the window.
   
   Keep in mind that some manufacturer windows may not have the ability to be resized.
   
   
   
5. With the Window selected, click on the Open Object  edit tool to be able to change the Window Type on the General tab.
   
   
   
6. The material applied to the Glass can be changed on the Materials tab of the Window Specification dialog.
   
   
   
7. You may want to look over the options in the Sash & Frame, Casing and Lites tabs if you need to change any of these additional features of the window to create an accurate model.
   
   If you are unclear on what a particular setting in one of these tabs does, select the Help button which is located in the dialog to learn more.
   
   
   
8. Click OK when you have completed making changes to apply them and close the Window Specification dialog.
   
   
   
9. Move the window into place and if necessary, hold down the Control (Ctrl) key on your keyboard to allow for unrestricted movement.
