Your Product Key, or previous software version CD key, and the name you used to register your license are sometimes required so that we can confirm your eligibility for an upgrade discount, or to receive technical support.

You should have printed a copy of your registration information for your records, but depending on where you downloaded the software and how long ago you purchased it, it may still be available in your online account with that vendor.

To locate the name you used to register
The name that you used to register your software license is noted in the About dialog in the program.  Select Help> About Home Designer to open this dialog box.

Note: Only the first five characters of your Product Key are needed when contacting Technical Support or Customer Service directly. As a result, in version 2012 and later only the first five characters are listed the About dialog.

To locate your product key or CD key

Your Product Key or CD Key can be found using any of the following methods:

• If you printed your registration information at the end of the Registration Wizard as recommended, then you can reference this document for any of the registration information you provided during the registration process.
  
  
• If you purchased Home Designer version 8 or newer as a download direct from Chief Architect, then you can log into your account on www.homedesignersoftware.com and find your Product or CD key on your Digital Locker page.
  
  
  
  
  
• If you purchased the software as a direct download from a qualified retailer, you may be able to access your download information on their web site, depending on when you purchased.
  
  
  • Home Designer version 8 and newer were available for download on Amazon.com.
    
    
  • Home Designer version 10 and newer could also be downloaded from Herman Street. 
    
    
• If you purchased from a qualified retailer, you can locate it inside the DVD case that your software came in.
